On September 5, 1882, workers filled the streets of New York City to celebrate the first Labor Day holiday. It was established to commemorate the contribution workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. There would be no Labor Day without the efforts of each American worker—those who show their strength and spirit every day. As workers who are honored on this holiday, we should all reflect on how we can be a positive force in our careers, our schools, and our nation’s labor market. Happy Labor Day! I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends or doing whatever it is you enjoy most. Source: http://www.dol.gov/laborday/history.html
